Wedding in the rain | Amanda and Chris tie the knot | North Myrtle Beach
Rain all day during winter wedding in north myrtle beach
It was a long wait for the "I dos," but 8 years after their first date Chris and Amanda tied the knot on a rainy winter day in December.
The couples' original plans for a barefoot beach wedding were changed as the clouds opened up on Dec. 1, 2018. It may not have been the wedding day either of them pictured in their minds, but though the sand was traded for a floral, soft blue rug and the sky overhead was a rented white tent, the bride still cried and the groom still told her she was beautiful when she met him at the alter.
Tying the knot
Homebodies at heart, Chris and Amanda kept their wedding on the simple side with just family and close friends gathered underneath an oceanfront home in Cherry Grove Beach, South Carolina. Amanda wanted something unique for their ceremony and chose handfasting. Their mothers used three ropes to wrap around the couple's clasped hands and, after reading their handwritten vows for each other, Chris and Amanda pulled their hands apart to show an infinity knot in the ropes, symbolizing the promises they made.
While guests munched on sweet and salty snacks, like small cookies from Croissants Bistro and Bakery and Amanda's dad's homemade spicy chex mix, the bride and groom cut into a delicious red velvet cake from Pink Pineapple Cakes. All around them were decorations Amanda and her mom picked out together, including the canvas print of a Jane Eyre quote, and string lights, repurposed by a friend of the family, hung from the banisters. White sheer curtains loved ones spent hours hanging up were blowing in the wind below the house, reminding Chris and Amanda how lucky they are to have such a supportive and loving family surrounding them.
wedding photography in full rain under umbrella for timeless bridal photos
Rather than dwell on the wedding that could have been, Chris and Amanda decided to use the weather to their advantage. Thanks to a helpful best man and a white umbrella, the newlyweds got some of their beloved beach photos, made all the more unique with the rain coming down. Although their feet were soaked and cold and the bottom of her dress and his suit pants had turned dark and dirty from the ground, by the end of the evening Chris and Amanda were wearing their new titles of husband and wife proudly.
As wedding photographers had a fantastic time (understatement) with Amanda and Chris , even tough we got soaked, but we had a lot of fun while at it…. check out the pictures and see the happiness in their wedding pictures!!
